The ancient city was destroyed by the great eruption of 79 A.C. The archeological excavations recovered only 70% of the city. In 1996 the Superintendence of Pompei give the authorization to reintroduce the viticulture in the gardens around the Roman villas. Nowadays there are only seven small vineyards not open to public visits but available only if authorized by the winery producer and Superintendence. We guide you there.
